Everyone knows I am not a morning person. So what does a morning person do when they are faced with coming in to work and dealing with someone who gets on their nerves to the last degree? She comes in here and it is like a bull in a china closet, rustling paper and banging up against things... and I don't know where she finds them, but every single damn day she is wearing a totally different jingly bracelet. This bracelet jingles and bangs on the desk everytime she moves. Me being a not-morning person at all, this noise makes me ready to lose my mind every single day. This happens to be the same person that really shouldn't be working here and I know has only about 1 chance left and she is gone. That is another story.
Another thing on my last nerve today is commercials on the radio for action movies. I do wonder how a commercial on the radio is going to excite me about an action movie when I can't see the action happening. They try to pull action like clips and play the sounds but it doesn't work. The one i am referring to now it the new Mummy movie. Sure, I may see this one on DVD since they are mildy entertaining, but playing a clip "I really hate mummies!" and then "CRASH BOOM!" doesn't do anything for me at all. Even Batman, which was wonderful, sounded retarded on the radio. "I'm Batman" CRASH BOOM!
I am not a bad person. I am just in a bad mood because I don't enjoy all this noise!
Now on a happy note, i enjoy the hell out of Whataburger commercials. They use this old southern dude and as he describes hamburgers that have ingredients that simply don't go together, i find myself wanting one because his old man southern voice is soothing and makes the burger sound great! Today he was talking about "skeedaddling" to get one. Well hell, how can I resist when you say the word "Skeedaddle?"
Ok, i think I will turn on my beloved Radio Margaritaville and tune out the noise violations coming from my left.

Play Date!
Today we had a play date with our friend Jennifer's dog, Tashi. He is a gorgeous Tibetian Terrier and the breeder didn't want him b/c he came out with 2 different colored eyes. He is 6 months old and just a feisty little guy who loves to play! He enjoyed the water bowl and laying on the cool tile with Teddy.

Snap shots..
I often end up grabbing my phone to take a picture of something my dogs are doing. Yesterday I was in the bathroom and turned and saw this...Lola demands I throw toys each morning while I am getting ready. See the fat cat behind them and my bathmats all strewn about?
This morning I woke up and Lola was sleeping like this:
She is just too precious isn't she?

It's about time...
So finally, after 2 bouts of a 24+ hour migraines this MONTH (in the last 2 weeks actually) I called and found a dr. I had to pay an insane amount of money but the dr was patient, kind, and knowledgeable. I went in at 9am this morning and was feeling ok, just tired (with headache and lee being gone so long... not sleeping much). He put me on a beta blocker and gave me samples of 5 different meds to try when I DO get a headache. I took one this afternoon and I am feeling pretty good now. My neck aches because it has been tense for 2 days, but I don't have a headache. I do think the hurricane rain we are getting is part of the reason I couldn't shake this one. I woke up Tuesday/Wednesday at 3:30am and my head felt like it was 150 pounds. So i got up in the scary dark house all alone and took a Maxalt. Then I took 2 excedrine at 10am and 2 more at 5pm. Still hurt. Took another Maxalt at 9:30pm. So for around 24 hours, I had been in pain, UGH!
Lee is on a plane right now and i am PRAYING he catches his connecting flight. I am checking both online to see if he lands. He is set to land right when the other is set to leave, so I hope that somehow either the second plane is delayed or that this one makes time up in the air and he lands and gets off. I am sure he has told the stewardesses that he is connecting. Maybe they will hold the plane? Do they do that since it is thier fault he is late, and not his? I am sure we will find out in the next 2 minutes!!
Other than headaches, all is well. I am so ready for Lee to come home. I am just a pathetic being without him!

Today is the day....
Starting today I am on Weight Watchers. I was looking online and found a pretty funny blog (that is now ended) called Weight Watchers for Food Snobs. Well that is totally me! I also am totally in love with Chipotle. I typed in for their nutritional facts and found this.
http://www.chipotlefan.com/index.php?id=nutrition_calculator
So i have my burrito bowl down to 10 points... still not great though!
I did the calculator and I get 18 points per day. Today so far I had 3/4 of a Kashi Bar for 3 points and coffee, let's say for 1 points (lots of cream... can't help it!). Then at lunch I had a bowl of 0-point Progresso soup, and then a pita sandwich with ham, laughing cow cheese, lettuce, and dijonaise. 3 points! I am totally full too. That means that today I have only had 7 of my 18 points! Tonight i am making a stir fry and left over Mocha Chocolate Cake (which is why I will need ALL 11 points!!) I made them last night in ramekins and there are 3 left so Lee, Donald, and I will finish them off..
Menu for this week:
Monday: Devilish Sesame Chicken and scallion rice (Rachael Ray recipe from her magazine this month)
Tuesday: Crock-pot chicken and veggies (basic basic basic)
Wednesday: Fajita steak salad (hungry girl recipe!)
Thursday: Chicken Cordon Bleu and side salad (from a low colesteral / low fat book)
Friday: Chicken Enchilada cassarole and side salad (a recipe from Sara!)
I get 35 "flex" points a week, which means I will use these for those Saturday night dinners and Friday nights (sometimes we go out). I am making my favorite breakfast on Saturday (maybe sunday too?) from La Peep which is english muffin, egg whites, turkey, low fat cheese, and salsa for "Healthy Eggs Benedict." I also got apples and watermelon so we can snack on fruit. ALSO I got a bunch of 100 calorie puddings and I like to add a spoonful of cool whip light on top to make it creamy. This has turned out to be a great dessert when you are dieting. You get the chocolate fix and don't feel so bad about it!
My goal at then end of all this craziness is to lose 10-15 pounds. According to the horrible charts, I should be around 110. CRAZY! So I am being more moderate and saying 120 would be awesome, and 125 will be great. So... today I am: 138.
Wish me luck!
(btw.. no news to repeat from the weekend, other than the fact I am addicted to a teenage vampire book series.. I will be the only 28 year old at the movie in December!)

Puppies are just plain funny...
I had to delete some pictures from my phone, it was getting full and acting slow, and I found this one. This was one of the days we were going to doggie day care and I had them in their seatbelts, ready to head out to the car. I thought they looked like little paratroopers! I can just hear them "let's go!"

Nostalgia
I listen to Radio Margaritaville at work alllll day. It plays a mix of Buffett and other islandy stuff. Right this minute they are playing my all time favorite - Little Miss Magic. My dad used to sing this to me when I was little, and we danced to it at my wedding. I miss my dad, we don't see each other much and with his work I don't get to call him becuase I never know where he is or if I will wake him up... I also like that this song came out in 1981, the year after I was born...
If you look to the right of my blog, this song is #6 in my playlist. Check it out, grab a tissue.
Little Miss Magic - Jimmy Buffett
She's constantly amazed by the blades of
the fan on the ceiling
And the funny little faces she makes
can't help but be appealing
She loves to ride through the town with the top down
Feel the warm breeze on her gentle skin
She is my next of kin
[Chorus:]
I see a little more of me everyday
I catch a little more moustache turning grey
Your mother is the only other woman for me
Little Miss Magic what you gonna be?
Sometimes I catch her dreaming and wonder
where that little mind meanders
Is she down along the shore or
strolling cross the broad Savannah's
I know in time she'll learn to make up her own mind
In time she's gonna learn to fly
Oh that I won't deny
[Chorus]
It's raining it's pouring
Your old man is snoring

Updates, Fun times
For the 4th of July Weekend, we went to Palestine. While I was there, I walked through a residential/commercial building that my grandmother's friend ownes, called The Redlands. It is a very historic building, dating back to 1914, and used to be a hotel. Now it is apartments above and commercial property below. Here is an article on the building. The Redlands
Now, my goal was to pick some colors for her. Each floor is a tad different. The 2nd floor has a grand lobby, with a stain glass skylight. The next 2 floors are basic corridors and are downright scary! Everything, everywhere, is painted white as chalk. Very dreary. The very top floor is a penthouse that is being renovated. All i am helping with is lobby/corridor colors. Here are a few pictures of the 2nd floor lobby:
Now, this floor is just painted concrete. I suggested either stripping it and staining it, or getting some commercial grade carpet. She is worried that some of the lower-grade tenant will tear it up, and showed me drag marks from someone dragging a sofa through. I wonder, if she had a nice carpet down, if people may think twice about that... There is also a rubber flooring she could use. As for paint, I am suggesting a medium toned green-teal. Downstairs is honeycomb tile and has dots of a teal. I wish I could post pictures of paint!! I think all the trim around all the doors should be dark brown, to mimick all the woodwork and elevator doors. It also helps separate the doors from the trim.
In the upstair corridors, I am suggesting a basic light beige. Nothing fancy. But again, dark brown trim. Something to rich up the hall and make it less scary. She had a GREAT idea about trying to find some carpet that looks like hotel carpet, really plush.
Aside from apartments, she wants to have some for extended-stay. She wants the place to be inviting when people step out of the elevator.
I hope I do a good job! I am sending paint samples tomorrow, i may look back through them before I do...
I was laying on the couch the other day and i looked up and saw this:
Can you believe that??? Goodness!
Lat night, our friends Jennifer and Dave came over with Tashi! Tashi is a 12 week old Tibetian Terrier. They had a great time playing with him!
After dinner, everyone found a toy and laid down. Jennifer thanked me later for getting Tashi all worn out!You can see Lola and Teddy's puppy phase was hard on the trim of the carpet!!

Good times
My mom and Tony came in a few weekends ago and we are so bad about remembering to take pictures! So before I took them to the airport we took a picture. And it shows the butcher block (hand made by my papa many years ago) that i put in the middle of the room and love it!
And Teddy was trying to give me a hug at the same time!
I sure wish the windows would come in. I need to order blinds. I am also in search of fabric for my window seat and throw pillows....
