Puttin it all out there...

The theme of the Oscars last night was leaving nothing to the imagination...

Take for instance Angelina Jolie:
Immediately I thought of Jessica Rabbit:
Then Cameron Diaz didn't get the memo that pointing is rude...
But the most talked about oveshare of the evening had to be JLo and her nipple:
At least Cameron wasn't cold anymore and let JLo have that spot light allll to herself.

Did you watch the Oscars? We admittedly fell asleep before the end.

Product of the Week

Remember when you were pregnant and you saw someone out in public letting their baby play on the iphone and said "oh I am NOT going to let that happen."

How do those words taste now? Because you all know you have done it.

Lee and I don't so much mind Logan playing on our phones, but it's the drool and potential damage issue to deal with.

I turned to my dear friend Amazon and picked up this:

This RULES. It has shock absorbancy built in as well as a cover so drool and sticky fingers don't touch your actual screen. There is an extra film over the home button so baby stays put right on the app you chose when you put it in the case.

Now, when we got an iPad, we had full intentions of it being something Logan can play on, watch movies on, etc. I found out they make one for the iPad too!

I will be picking one of these up before our next road trip for sure.

Until then, I will just keep reading magazines on it :)

Wino Wednesday

About a month or so ago, Donald came over for our weekly dinner and brought a very interesting wine.

Silver Chardonnay

This wine is in a neat ceramic bottle that looks aged.

I always say I love a creamy, oak-y chardonnay. This one is unoaked and I happen to love it. While it's not oak-y, it's still creamy and rich and has a very clean finish. It was around $19 a bottle at Costco, so about $22 or so at H-E-B.

This is a really interesting and fun bottle to take to a dinner party because it's fun to talk about and super yummy to drink.

Enjoy!

Ear infections..

In the last 12 months, Logan has had 6 ear infections.

The last 3 have been since Christmas.

Things around here have been crazy to say the least.

On Thursday we have a appointment to have him evaluated for tubes. The fact that he has had 3 in a row scares the crap out of me.

The 104 fevers don't help either.

Lee and I wonder how much different things will be when the tubes go in. Will he talk more? Will he maybe walk more than 3 steps without falling?

For the love of God will he start sleeping all night again?!

It's so hard watching him hurt and not really being able to help.

I will say I took full advantage of the snuggles he gave me, including a nap in the bed with us.

Glorious.

So for now, we will continue antibiotics and allergy meds.

And playing on our bean bag chair:

A rare smile on Saturday during the wrath of a doosey of an ear infection.

Music

Lately I have been very Alternative. Like most of you, I am obsessed with Somebody I Used to Know by Gotye.

But I also love this band, and nearly this whole album.

Gomez
Song: See The World

One night I went to bed a little early (because Logan gets up at 6:30 7 days a week!) and Lee stayed up. While I dozed in bed, I heard him listening to something on Palladia. The next day I asked him and he told me about Gomez. Because of Apple's new awesome Cloud technology, I just had to download the album he already purchased and off I went!

Other songs I love of theirs:
Hamoa Beach
Girlshapedlovedrug
Tear Your Love Apart

Other Go To's when I am stuck in traffic are:

Miike Snow - Animal
The Kooks - Love it All

Try them out, let me know if you like them.

Have a good week!

Product Of the Week

I didn't have to think very hard about my product of the week this week. I have stumbled upon something amazing that I can't wait to tell you about.

L'Oreal Color Riche Lip Balm
As you may recall, I don't wear lipstick. Pretty much ever. I have chapstick hidden all over the place from Logan's diaper bag, to my car, maybe even Lee's car. That's about as far as it goes with me.

Then I discovered this. It's the best of both worlds. It's silky smooth yet leaves a subtle color and shimmer so that it does look like you made more effort than usual. I have gotten a few compliments already! Maybe it's because it makes me look less like death.

I am currently loving the color Caramel Comfort, but might pick up another more bold color for those times when I am feeling less square.

This is EXACTLY what I look like after I put it on. I swear.
Enjoy ladies!

Wino Wednesday

This week's Wino Wednesday is dedicated to a new found chardonnay that is currently one of my top 3.

Milbrandt Vineyards
I traditionally like creamy, oak-y chardonnay, not the crisp apple ones. This one is just right AND it's a screw top - which saves me remembering to plug it after having a glass at dinner.

No, I don't always drink a whole bottle. Don't act so shocked!

Chardonnay is my go-to most nights and this one is a great price at around $12 a bottle.

Enjoy!

Albums

Remember those black circle things that had to be played with a needle?

Records!

Also called albums..

When I was little I had about 3 or 4 of my very own records. I had Madonna's "Who's That Girl?"
I also for some reason had the music of Cinderella
And my favorite single (therefore on a 45 record) was "I wear my sunglasses at night"
Over the weekend, however - I was reminded in a sad way that my very favorite album was this one:
I listened to this one like it was my job. Loved this whole album and danced around my room to it.

Over the years I have always enjoyed listening to Whitney. I also loved her movies and listened to the soundtracks when they came out. It's very sad that she finally lost her life because of her battle with drugs/alcohol.

So today I vow to listen to this song as loud as possible and dance a little bit.

Let's remember the good times of Whitney, not the bad. She would have wanted it that way.

I'm afraid of...

The Big. Bad. Wolf.

No seriously, I am.

When I was little, my Dad wasn't really into censorship. He took me to see Die Hard when I was 7 at the theater. He went to a friends house around the corner and left Basic Instinct in the VCR (remember those?!)

Whoops. I learned a lot watching that movie..

I will never forget the time he let me watch Silver Bullet.

He has always been an avid Stephen King fan. Reads every book. When I was little, King was notorious for some scary shit. I mean, a CLOWN that lives under the street?

*excuse me. I am feeling verclempt. talk amongst yourselves...*

So when Silver Bullet was out on video, he sure wanted to watch it. And there I was right beside him.

Glued to the tv and terrified at the same time.

The interesting thing about this poster is that.. it was a long long time ago but I think this werewolf is far freakier looking than some of the modern day ones.

So from what I remember, some dude is a wolf by night and is a mean mofo. He kills pigs and people and is generally not well received by the town folk.

Then comes along our favorite 80's kid:

Cory Haim.

He figures out who the bad guy is and takes him down, all while cruising around town on his scooter called, Silver Bullet.
How YOU doin?
After I watched this movie, I was terrified for MONTHS. There was a branch that was outside my window and when it was windy I would flip out. Finally my mom was so curious as to my sudden fright of night beasts, she asked my dad what was up. She wasn't happy.

They even had to trim the tree down and hang blankets in front of my window.

Ever since, I have always been afraid of things that go bump in the night.

While I am sure it was the freaky wolf man that scared me, I wonder if this scared me more:
Gary Busey

Because that is not for the feint of heart.

What are you afraid of?

Questions From Kelly For Me To Answer
1. Where is the coolest place you have traveled? - St. Thomas was pretty awesome. We took a taxi from the cruise ship to a little beach called Coki Beach, ate lunch in the sand and fed dog bones to fish. LOVED IT.

2. What is your favorite book? EEK! Only one? Well Water for Elephants ranks way up there but I have read Message From Nam by Danielle Steel at least 6 times. Not for the romance but because I was obsessed with Vietnam in High School. (ok maybe some of the romance was cool...)

3. What are you most thankful for in your life? My Family. Lee and Logan are the best things that have ever happened to me and our families are both so supportive of us!

4. What is the best concert you've been to? Jimmy Buffett at Minute Maid Park in Houston. AWESOME time.

5. What is your favorite Superbowl party recipe? I hover over the 7 layer dip. I make mine a little special by adding Taco Seasoning to the sour cream layer.

6. Why did you start blogging? Well i started blogging a long time ago, in college, just because my friends were doing it. Then I started up again just for fun. Once Logan came along and I saw how hot the blogging world had gotten, I got very into it!

7. Did you have any resolutions for 2012? Do what I need to in order to be happy with myself. So far this included losing 30 pounds, which I am halfway done with, and I may have become a shopoholic as of recently...

8. Who is your favorite author? Patricia Cornwell

9.  If you could switch careers and have your dream job, what would it be? A wedding planner. But I don't want to work on Saturdays!

10. Whats the best movie you've seen lately? We watched Drive last night and it was awesome, but it may be too gory for some tastes. Otherwise I saw Moneyball twice. It's wonderful.

11. Charlie Sheen or Kim Kardashian? Kim Kardashian because I am pretty sure I am smarter than her and Charlie gives me the creeps!

Wino Wednesday

I love wine. You love wine. So why not dedicate the middle of the week to talking about wine?

Today's wine is a family favorite and so good that we buy it by the case.

Raymond Cabernet - we currently are drinking the 2008.

It's lush, vanilla-y, dark cherry, and as formal reviews say "On the palate, this big, bold, well-structured Cabernet has concentrated flavors of dark chocolate, tobacco and spice, with a toasty, long finish."

It's pretty freakin yummy.

It's a great go-to for parties or just sitting around the house in sweatpants.

Yes. Sweatpants.

At about $18 a bottle, it's a winner!
