I have proof!!!

Donald likes Guitar Hero! He even asked how much to buy the game...

Sunday's are for shopping!

The Nash's decided to spend a little money today. We had brunch/lunch with friends and then stopped into Williams Sonoma. I got a soap and lotion pair in Olive Oil and Coriander (mmmm!).

Then we went to the Galleria and Lee got Guitar Hero for the Wii and I got Civilization IV for the Mac. So today we will be in separate rooms playing! Then on to Petco where I got shampoo (Earthbath Mango Tango), chewies, and a new cat collar for Lilly.
I had to put the sheets and duvet in the washer because Lola and Teddy bring all kinds of outside goodies in for us and they end up in the sheets! Along with chewies and even a rope toy this time! Then they will get baths before they are allowed back in the bed. Ahhh... ONE night of clean sheets and dogs!

Our Menu this week:
Sunday: Fettucini (fresh) with simple meat and tomato sauce. Donald and Jimmy will be over.
Monday: Classic Stir Fry. Donald will be over.
Tuesday: Lee's night out. I will make taco salad from hungrygirl.com's recipe! 230 calories!
Wednesday: Sautee'd chicken and veggie orzo.
Thursday: Our night to go to Jimmy and Donald's.
Friday: Eat OUT!!!

Jennifer's party for Diedra was a great time last night. They made some drink that was so bad it was good made with beer, lemonade and vodka! BLEGH! but there was something about it and it was cold so... i had one!

Lunch with Dad

We had alot of fun at lunch, my dad, stepmom, and niece came along since they don't live far from there at all. I haven't seen my dad since late January, since his surgery to remove his prostate cancer. It was good to see him and Cheryl and MeKenzy.

Selfish?

Ok not even one year ago I got a Mini Cooper S and we decided to lease it because we knew we couldn't want it for like 10 years. I feel selfish because although I enjoy driving the Mini (especially when it comes to parking and traffic!) I still have my eye on some other ones out there. Lee wants to get a used BMW 5 "Someday" and I think a used X3 or X5 or Acura RDX would be nice. It isn't that we aren't happy with hwat we have, we just keep dreaming of the future I guess...
It doesn't help that Lee's car was stolen. It somehow feels tainted to me now.

Margaritaville, getting close

I had officially had the best margarita so far in my life at Goode Company Seafood. As well, I had grilled shrimp and rainbow trout that was phenomenal! I am so excited I just had to post about it!
This weekend we are slightly busy. We have to take Lee's fish to get mounted at a taxidermist. Yes... that is correct. Lee caught a 7 pound, 22 inch long bass in Palestine this weekend. So he wants it mounted. I do ask, as an Interior Designer, how do I tastefully hang this? Well, it will go in the study along with fraternity/sorority paddles and other things that aren't decorating-ly pretty! This is Lee and my papa, and the fish of course!
We may head into Rudy's BBQ for lunch. You Austin people will know what I am talking about!

Afterwards we will be at Diedra's birthday party. You can read about the menu at: http://twopartyplanners.blogspot.com/
Deidra is the one on the right, and Jennifer (who I refer to as Massey) is the one with the boobs!

Addicted...

Ok so a few days ago, my (starting to be really good friend) Sara sent me a link as an "oh-yeah, thought you may like this" email. So I clicked on it at work (i know) and now.. i can't get off of it! www.hungrygirl.com. I am printing recipe's (under Chew This) and looking at articles and have a great time!
They had a great article comparing "alike" foods like Lean Cuisine's Panini's and Healthy Choice Panini's. Also, they did a run down on 10 best frozen meals and suggested Smart One's MacNCheese as a great one. Sweet! I miss MacNCheese and now I know I can keep that around in the freezer and indulge now and then.
Besides that, my favorite thing is listening to Radio Margaritaville at work. I get this constant feeling of being on vacation (it would be nice if the clouds would go away!). Here is a view from my office, so imagine on sunny days how the music and pretty weather would be! (please excuse my mess):
So that is my view. In the mornings I have to lower the blinds because the sun is terrible! You can't tell but when I am actually pulled up to the desk, there are tress down to the right of that apartment building. I have a pretty good view compared to those to the left of me. They get like 100% parking garage. I can actually see my car right now!

Music and Misc happenings

I am completely addicted to Sara Bareilles's CD - "Little Voice." I like every song and listen to it almost every day.
And sometimes when I feel like rocking out, I listen to Led Zeppelin, Black Crowes, or Joe Walsh. Of course my all time favorite is Jimmy Buffett, but you have to branch out a little!
I am so ready to go home today. I need to go by and get Lola's new food at the vet, and then PetCo to get this fabulous shampoo my friend Sara recommended that is natural and good for them. Also because of her suggesstion, I ordered a bunch of Meyer cleaning products to use in the house. They are all natural and will be better for us and the pups.
I hate that Lola has to be on Science Diet, but if this is all that works then we will deal with it for now. If she responds well to it, I may dig around and see what else I can find that is more natural and less processed. I mean, not a single ingredient in her new food is natural. Ick.
Tonight we have dinner at Jimmy and Donald's. I made some brownies last night that are low fat so I hope they are good. If not, oh well! At least I now have an awesome new food processor! This was the 4th recipe I have needed one for and so I finally got one. It wasn't expensive so if i only use it a little it won't be a big deal. My little Mini-Prep just wasn't cutting it.

The kitchen is stressing us out. Bank of America is really asking for alot of crap. Lowe's is being slow to comply, so this is just a cluster. As long as the kitchen is ready for the cabinets on April 21, that's fine.

Arg, back to work!

A Goodnight Poem from a pup...

A Day IN the Life of A Young Dog

This morning, I woke up & kissed my dad's head. I peed on the carpet, then went back to bed. "The life of a puppy, oh my, this is great." Then I thought about breakfast, " I hope it's not late."

Mom took me outside, we walked for a while. This never fails, to make Mama smile. I sniffed of everything, that we did pass, I ate something weird -- it gave me gas.

I'm sure God loves me, I know that is true. He gave me so many great things to chew. Rugs, plants or rocks, I really don't care. What I truly like best, is Dad's underwear.

That obedience book, was sort of yummy. Though it didn't sit well on my poor puppy tummy. I threw up a bit, but that was all right, When Mom found it later, I was well out of sight.

I made streamers of T.P., while running at full speed. Mom's pretty quick -- but I was still in the lead. I flew under the bed, and Mom flew past, She stopped -- shook her head, and breathed, "You're too fast."

Mama later phoned Daddy, and said, "It was frightening!" That afternoon, she was sure I'd pooped lighting. She'd sat at the computer, while I chewed the cord, She thought I was mad, but I was just bored.

When Mama had enough, couldn't take anymore, That's when my tushy got shoved out the door. I love it inside, but outside is best. Lay in the cool grass, and had a good rest.

That didn't last long, there was too much to do-Can't quite remember where I hid Daddy's shoe. I found an old bone, and scratched at a flea, I watched the dumb squirrels as they jumped in a tree.

I barked at the kids, when they got off the bus. I can't figure out why this makes Mama fuss. I barked at the neighbor, I barked at the wind. I barked and barked, till Mom yelled, "COME IN."

The sun dipped in the west-soon Daddy would come! I sure love my daddy: we always have fun. I barked at my daddy, then turned on my charms, I woo-wooed, "Hello," then jumped in his arms.

Sitting under the table -- it's sooo hard to wait. Daddy slipped me a goodie right off his plate. I raced through the house, and scattered my toys, Ricocheted off the furniture, and made lots of noise.

Mom found her purse -- the one I abused. Daddy let loose a chuckle. Mom asked "Amused??" I cowered down low, I must be in trouble. Dad said, "Wasn't MY boy, it must be his double!"

Mom turned off the TV, and said, "Time for bed." Dad said "Let's go boy," and patted my head. I got in my spot, between Mom and Dad, I thought 'bout my day and what fun I had.

Mama kicked out my bone from the covers below, Then let loose a sigh -- a sigh deep and low. She gave me a kiss, and snuggled me tight, and whispered so softly, "My darling, goodnight."

I don't have a resume...

Today was a crazy fun but wholly exhausting day. My company went to Nacogdoches, TX today to recruit at Stephen F Austin State University - where I graduated from. We have a very very strong Interior Design program. Alyse (Boss 1) and Mike (Boss 2) were getting many candidates from University of Houston, but they weren't very strong and had a slow learning curve. Hence, the program was shut down. Alyse actually told my teacher that she has worked with other SFA grads and they are always very technically adept. Not that I am a bragger, but I am extremely technical (which is something you either are or aren't to begin with) and I learn faster than most people I know. Alyse told me one day "Man! You can bang some s*** out!" Heh! That made me feel great.
Anyway, back to today. We get there on time, which is unheard of when you have Mike and Alyse. We spoke to the senior class for 45 minutes and then started interviews in 15 min increments. The 11:45 chick didn't show so we went to lunch where Lee and I got engaged, Auntie Pasta's. YUM. Got back and banged out like 9 interviews in 3 hours. Out of all of it, we have 4 candidates (of 13) that we are looking at.
Some girls were surprises. We had one that when we said "What are your personal interests" she said "Well, I am a preacher's wife so I guess that is my main thing, being active in the church." Allllrighty then. We had concerns that she wouldn't want to re-located to big ole H town if her husband was a preacher in a church there. THAT IS NOT WHY WE AREN'T CONSIDERING HER, we just had 4 others that really fit what we were looking for.
Another one that was interesting was a Real Estate Agent girl (young too..) and she mentioned that one of her strengths was she doesn't get stressed out. She goes on to tell us that maybe she does but she doesn't notice until she gets indigestion and is then like "What is going on?"
Ok.
Last, but most interesting, was the 11:45 one that came in at 3 (we had our bags on our shoulders, ready to book it back to Houston!) Here are 3 things right away that made me want to say "Nevermind!!"
  • "Work shorts"
  • Clubbing shirt
  • No resume
Ok. So she sits down and tells Mike "well I heard you aren't actually hiring." From who? The bitchy chick in class you stole a design from? Whatever! You still dress right and bring a darn resume!
See, I get on my soap box about young professional women. First of all, being young and fresh, you have to earn respect. You earn strikes for dressing like you are going straight to the club after work and letting me get an idea of your cup size from your shirt being so low cut. You have to work really hard in the beginning to be taken seriously. This chick will learn the hard way I guess.
So she never really answered a question. "What are your strengths?" She avoided that and talked about some job that made her stronger in one area of design this summer. No, that isn't what I meant!
All in all we are excited the trip went so well. We all cracked up in the car there and back and had a great time.
I got up at 5:15am. That is the worst thing ever. I am a 7am and still mad person. I need coffee and about 2 hours of being left alone to get into the groove.
And now I am about to get on the couch with my loveable, huggable schnauzers and sleep.

[December] - Lola is 2! Christmas lunch was crazy with no dishwasher, but we made it through.

2008 is only 3 months through and already things have changed! The kitchen will start in a few weeks, Teddy will turn 1, and we will have been married for 3 years, together for 6! Live keeps giving and we keep eating it up.

Things have changed!

I found this old post on MySpace about a bad day I was having at work and I laughed at how miserable i remember being that day:

Signs you are having a bad day...

  1. You don't get a lunch break because you have to cover the Receptionist desk and have too much work to do
  2. You get ignored at the weekly Office Meeting
  3. The entire hem of your skirt falls out, too early for you to go home, so you have to wear your skirt that way for the remainder of the day
  4. You got so annoyed by people commenting on how good your candle smelled and they thought it was food, you blew it out and put it in the drawer
  5. You search your desk for razor blades..
WOW! I found the wonders of hemming tape and that skirt is still my favorite. That candle was like $1 at Walgreens while I was waiting on a prescription. I wish I could still burn candles at work, that was a nice touch. I may get a flameless one or something.
I don't even work at that place anymore and I can't believe how unhappy it made me each and every day...
