When I grow up...

Awhile back, I was blocked for inspiration and asked for your help in topics or what you wanted to hear from me. Joshua over at Vive Le Nerd came back with:

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

This is not going to be something anyone would guess.
A Teacher? - No
A Nurse? - No
A Ballerina? - Hell No.

I wanted to be a Homicide Detective.

You may wonder how old I was when I wanted to be this.

I was 11.

I had just seen the movie V.I. Warshawski and fell in love with the dectective "who dun it" style.

I ran around the house "investigating" things.

This lasted a very long time. I remember I even saw a woman cop when I was about 16 years old and wanted to ask her how long you had to be a street cop before you could be a detective. I didn't want to be a street cop and write tickets and chase drug dealers around. I wanted to wear a suit and say important things.

When I was 15/16, the movie Seven came out. This gave me a whole new look at the grisely side of detective work. I had my doubts about this field around then and started looking at other avenues.

Eventually I tried Nursing.. that was a no go. Then I was a Computer Science major, which lasted 2 semesters and then C++ and I broke up for good. Finally I settled on Interior Design.

Part of me thinks I should have looked at History Teacher, but for now I am happy.

I live vicariously through the shows I watch. I love Bones:
and I really like the new show Rizzoli and Isles:
The books I read are the same. I love J.D. Robb:

And especially Patricia Cornwell:

There you have it. Interior Designer / Wife / Mother by day. Envious of homicide detectives by night..

What did you want to be when you were little?

I wanted to be a doctor, then Math teacher, then doctor again, then English teacher, then nurse, then English teacher. And that's what I am. An English teacher.
And now I want to find a job as a freelance translator.

Okay, this explains the mysterious tweet yesterday. I was desperately trying to figure out what I said in the last 24 hours that would have instigated a post.

I wanted to be a Top Gun fighter pilot. Then I got glasses and found out that such a thing would never happen.

Wow, a homicide detective! That's pretty advanced for a kid. I was boring...I always wanted to be a teacher. And guess what? I'm a teacher. :)

I'm a new follower stopping by from the Weekend Wander. It's nice to meet you! Hope you can stop by and say hi. :)

I totally wanted to be a police officer from the age of 7... just like you I wanted to be a detective. My dad even had a friend who was a detective who I knew, and thought he was the coolest. Then I hit highschool and realized I didn't like the thought of looking at blood and did an Art degree... lol. Heck I'm almost 30 and still don't know what I want to be when I grow up lol!

Great Blog, stopping by from FTLOB :)

I still do not know what I want to be when I "grow up". I constantly changed my mind when I was little too - vet, pilot, doctor, dance teacher...

Just wandered over from ftlob. X
